Simon Block has successfully litigated complex commercial cases for corporate and individual clients in a wide variety of industries. He frequently appears before state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels, and also has significant expertise resolving disputes through mediation and arbitration. The diverse subject matter of his practice spans the gamut of business disputes, including commercial contracts, intellectual property, employment law, professional malpractice, securities fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets and business torts. Mr. Block regularly counsels clients in developing strategies to minimize legal exposure, and provides advice concerning employment policies and practices. Prior to joining Quinn McCabe LLP, Mr. Block practiced as a commercial litigator for close to nine years at large national law firms in New York and Los Angeles, and then helped to operate and grow several businesses. He leverages his unique combination of practical business experience and litigation acumen to efficiently serve his clients’ business needs.
Mr. Block received his bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from Cornell University in 1993 and his law degree, cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School in 1996, where he was a Notes & Comments Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. He was admitted to the New York State bar in 1997, to the bar of the United States District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1998, to the bars of the State of California and the United States District Court, Central District of California in 2001, to the bars of the United States District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2003, and to the bar of the United States Supreme Court in 2004. Mr. Block is an Adjunct Instructor of Legal Writing at Brooklyn Law School, and volunteers as a small claims arbitrator for the Civil Court of the City of New York.
